Well, when I picked it up, it looked horrible. Stephen took a picture of it on his phone, so I may be able to post a picture of it later when he's home. But, it was totally cheesy looking. It was done in bright, primary colors (not what I think of when I think of a baby's baptism). And it had these Nintendo Wii looking figures on it--an angel or something at the top and a baby at the bottom. If you're not familiar with a Wii, it was basically legless peg figures. It was horrible. I wanted to cry. Why the heck couldn't they have just put a cross on it with a couple flowers or something simple like that?
(Edited to add a picture of the ugly cake)

Anyhow, I was so shocked at how horrible the cake looked, that I just paid for it and left. Stephen was waiting in the car with the kids (this was on Saturday). When he looked at the cake, he was speechless. I just wanted to cry. This was sooo not the type of cake that you want to display for your son's baptism.
Thinking back, I guess I should have complained. But I felt like I kind of didn't have the right to since I didn't specifically tell them what I wanted on the cake. I mean, I told the person on the phone that I wanted something "tasteful". Of course, all that was written on the order form was "artist's choice". I mean, I'm in this shop surrounded by these gorgeous wedding cakes, and they hand me this ugly-ass corny looking cake. I would expect something like that from Kroger or some other grocery store bakery...but this place ONLY does cakes, and beautiful ones at that! How can they think this stupid looking cake was decent? I don't know...
So, what do I do? I call my mom, of course. She tells me to bring the cake over, so she can see it. So we stop by their house and show her. She can't even contain her laughter, it's so bad. And she says she'll fix it for me. At that point, I don't care if she drops it on the floor...I was not serving that cake as it was. So I leave the cake with my mom. And she fixed it, thank goodness. She managed to scrape off the stupid looking Wii figures and put some flowers on it instead. Here's what she came up with:
So, Mom saves the day, as usual. Thanks so much, Mom! I appreciate it sooo much!

Congratulatios on the baptism. God bless him.
Wow, what a cake transformation! Your mom is one talented woman. I can't believe what they did to you though. Shame on them. You should mention it to them, especially if you ever want to do business with them again.
Your mom did an incredible job on the cake!
Umm, I had cakes from Kroger that looked better than that. That bakery should be horrified to let something like that leave with their name attached to it.
